What to do in case of a spill in the laboratory
16 de November de 2023Sometimes in our daily work in the laboratory unexpected spillages happen, with the associated risk or danger for those in the surrounding area. These spillages may cause serious health risks, produce bad odours, damage laboratory material, etc.
With our Chemispill® range, products with high neutralization and absorption capabilities, you will be able to clean up and safely dispose of any kind of laboratory spillage with maximum security and reliability.
This product range is designed to deal with any type of laboratory spillage: aqueous solutions (neutral, acidic or basic), organic solutions, oil spills, etc.
The new line of Chemispill® products comprises 3 complementary products for cleaning up and/or neutralising unexpected spillages:
- Chemispill® Sorb, this is a universal absorbent ideal for spills of neutral aqueous solutions, organic solutions or oils. Each gram of Chemispill® Sorb can absorb up to 9 mL of spillage.
- Chemispill® H+, designed to neutralise and absorb acid spills (except hydrofluoric acid, HF). With the right amount of absorbent, the acid spill is completely neutralised in less than 20 seconds.
- Chemispill® OH-, ideal for neutralizing and absorbing basic spills quickly and efficiently.
Chemispill® products do not contain phenolphthalein in their pH indicators, as it has been classified as potentially carcinogenic (H350).

For a higher degree of safety, we recommend having a Chemispill® Spills Kit in each room or sector of your laboratories. The kits include all three types of absorbents, nitrile gloves, lab goggles, waste bags, spatula, brush and dustpan, together with instructions for use. They are packaged in a lightweight, ergonomic case for easy transport to the spill site.
