Dehydrated media Scharlau

Scharlau dehydrated culture media undergo a controlled manufacturing process based on selecting high-quality ingredients from validated suppliers, ensuring batch to batch traceability and reproducibility of the final product.

Scharlab offers Scharlau dehydrated culture media in different formats adapted to our customers’ needs: pre-weighed sachets to prepare 500 mL, 500 g flasks and large quantities in 5 kg and 25 kg drums.

Please contact us if you do not find the culture medium you need in this catalogue. We can manufacture customised media according to the formulations proposed by our customers.

Shelf-life from the date of manufacture:

The average shelf life of Scharlau dehydrated media is 4 years from the date of manufacture. Exceptionally and due to their formulation, some media may have a shorter shelf life. On the other hand, stability studies have allowed us to increase the shelf-life up to 5 years for some media.

This information is available in the product datasheet, which can be downloaded from our website.

Dehydrated media in 500 g: our Pac-o-Vac® packaging

Scharlau 500 g bottles of dehydrated media are vacuum-packed in an additional transparent plastic outer bag called Pac-o-Vac®.

This airtight packaging provides high protection against moisture, dust particles and microorganisms. It ensures optimal storage conditions and protects the product from alterations in its physical and organoleptic properties, even under unfavourable climatic conditions.

For customers with higher consumption or for manufacturers of prepared media, we have the option of offering our dehydrated media in larger containers to facilitate and minimise handling.

Dehydrated media in pre-weighed sachets

This format is ideal for expensive media and those used in small quantities, as the media conserves its original characteristics until the container is opened, so no product needs to be rejected because it has absorbed excess moisture or has simply expired due to infrequent use.

Each sachet contains the exact amount needed to reconstitute 500 mL of media; just add water and sterilise in an autoclave. This allows media to be prepared quickly and without any errors.

Sold in boxes of 5 aluminised sachets.

They have a standard shelf life of 4 years.
