CENTRIFUGES

Centrifuges generate a centrifugal force to separate the components of a mixture into different layers based on their density, thus isolating the different fractions of a sample. The sample is placed in a purpose-designed centrifuge tube or plate. The centrifuge rotor may either oscillate or move angularly and they come in different capacities depending on the type and number of tubes or plates. There are mini-centrifuges, benchtop, floor standing, refrigerated and heated or specific centrifuges available for a wide variety of laboratory applications.
