DISPENSATION

Dispensers and pumping systems are often used in laboratories to dispense accurate doses of liquids. Dispensers are ideal for pouring small, controlled and known quantities. Hazardous liquids should never be poured directly but rather with the aid of a pumping system. This involves selecting the right pump for the size of the drum and volume to be poured. Hand pumps are ideal for conventional containers, while pedal pumps are suited to industrial settings. In addition, the pump material must be compatible with the type of liquid to be dispensed, e.g., polypropylene pumps are for acids and alkalis, while stainless steel units are designed for combustible and flammable liquids.
